Utility TechnicianÂ
General Purpose:
With minimal supervision, performs job tasks as required efficiently and on a timely basis. Must be able to read meters using the meter reading equipment and software. Will need to be able to assist customers in the field, by phone, and maintain communication with office staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Monthly meter reading, meter replacement, locating meters, assisting customers in field, meter pit repairs, GIS mapping, data logging, working with our billing software program, scheduling final readings for transfers, other position specific duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Time management- must be able to follow required schedule
Communication-with front office, technical support, and customers
Organization skills
GIS/Map understanding
Experience with Neptune/Hersey/Mueller systems a plus
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED
Some college preferred
Current Driver’s license required
Physical Requirements:
Standing, sitting, bending, reaching, able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Some maintenance/repairs may require laying on the ground or climbing over fences
Hours-8:00 am to 4:30 pm
