Subject: Notice of Water Rate Adjustment

Dear Miami County Rural Water DistrictNo. 2 Patrons,

The Board of Directors of Rural Water District No. 2, Miami County, Kansas recently approved an adjustment to the District's water rates that will take effect this month. The volumetric rate for water usage will increase from $6.50 per 1,000 gallons to $8.00 per 1,000 gallons.

We understand that any increase in utility costs affects household and business budgets, and we want our customers to know that this decision was not made lightly. The Board carefully reviewed the District's financial condition, operating costs, future infrastructure needs, and long-term obligations before taking this action.

Like utilities across Kansas and the nation, our rural water district has experienced significant increases in the cost of providing safe, reliable drinking water. Treatment chemicals, equipment, materials, fuel, electricity, insurance, and infrastructure maintenance have all increased substantially in recent years. At the same time, the District must continue investing in the facilities, pipelines, pumps, storage tanks, and treatment systems that allow us to deliver water throughout our service area.

In addition to rising costs, the District must continue to meet evolving state and federal drinking water regulations. These requirements often necessitate additional monitoring, treatment improvements, and infrastructure investments to ensure the continued delivery of safe, reliable drinking water to our customers.

The District must preserve the long-term sustainability of the water system. After careful consideration, the Board determined that this rate adjustment is necessary to ensure the District can continue providing the dependable service our customers expect today while responsibly planning for the future.

Rural Water District No. 2 remains committed to its mission of providing safe, reliable, and affordable water service while being responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us. Every dollar collected through water rates is reinvested into the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the water system that serves our communities.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support. It is our privilege to serve you, and we remain committed to managing the District's resources responsibly while providing the high-quality service you deserve.

Sincerely,

Lyle Wobker
Chairman, Board of Directors
