A Message From Members of the Hillsdale Area Water Cooperative
(Rural Water District No. 2, Miami County, KS is a member of the Cooperative)
The Governor of Kansas has declared a drought emergency for a majority of the state of Kansas. The counties in the Hillsdale Watershed along with the Hillsdale Lake are either in a water watch or warning. The Kansas Water Office has issued a drought watch for the Hillsdale Lake. Therefore Rural Water District No. 2, Miami County, Kansas is implementing “Stage 1-Water Watch” of its Municipal Water Conservation Plan.
The District ask all patrons to conserve water use, to curtail some outdoor water use and make efficient use of indoor water, i.e. wash full loads of clothes and dishes, take short showers, don’t let faucets run, etc. District personnel will repair leaks within 48 hours of detection, monitor its use of water and curtail activities such as hydrant flushing.
For information on water conservation tips and conserving water in your home see the “Conservation News” here.
